Detective AI Recorder Support

Use this guide to set up permissions, choose targets, save clips, pair peer cameras, restore purchases, and troubleshoot recording issues.

Quick Start

  • Open Detective AI Recorder on your iPhone.
  • Allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
  • Select a target such as Person, Bird, Cat, Dog, Car, Bottle, or Chair.
  • Tap Arm Detection. The app records only when the selected object or movement is detected.
  • When a confirmed session is ready, tap Save Session to export one merged clip.

Permissions

Detective AI Recorder uses camera access to watch for your selected object and microphone access to include sound with triggered video clips. Local network access is used only when you turn on peer camera features.

If camera or microphone access is blocked, open iOS Settings, choose Detective AI Recorder, and re-enable the needed permissions.

Targets and Detection

Object mode records when the selected object appears. Movement mode records when meaningful motion appears in frame. You can also enter custom target phrases such as white dog, red car, or blue backpack.

  • Use lower sensitivity when you do not want to miss brief appearances.
  • Use higher sensitivity when weak or incorrect detections are starting too many clips.
  • Turn on the detection overlay when you want to see which object the app is following.
  • Use camera zoom or motion zoom assist when the target is small or far away.

Saved Clips

Confirmed snippets remain pending until you save them. When you tap Save Session, Detective AI Recorder merges confirmed segments into one video clip in Files under On My iPhone > Detective AI Recorder. Unconfirmed temporary segments are deleted automatically.

You can delete saved clips from the app or from the Files app.

Peer Camera

Peer Camera lets one nearby iPhone broadcast and another nearby iPhone watch on the same local network. The connection uses an encrypted peer session and a short pairing code.

  • On the camera phone, open Settings in the app and choose Peer Camera > Broadcast.
  • On the watching phone, choose Peer Camera > Watch.
  • Enter the broadcaster pairing code and connect to the nearby device.
  • Keep both devices nearby and on the same local network.

Detective Premium and Purchases

Detective Premium unlocks unlimited smart recording, peer camera viewing, and advanced capture controls. Purchases are handled by the App Store.

  • Monthly access renews automatically unless canceled in Apple ID settings.
  • Lifetime access is a one-time purchase for the Apple ID used to buy it.
  • Use Restore Purchases in the Premium screen if you already bought access on the same Apple ID.
  • If plans are unavailable, check your network connection and try again.

Troubleshooting

The app is not recording.

Confirm Detection is armed, camera and microphone permissions are enabled, and your target is visible enough for the selected sensitivity.

Too many clips are starting.

Increase sensitivity, choose a stricter tracking profile, or use a more specific target phrase.

No clip appears in Files.

Unconfirmed segments are discarded. Wait for a confirmed session and tap Save Session before leaving the app.

Peer Camera cannot connect.

Make sure both devices are nearby, local network permission is allowed, the pairing code is current, and no VPN/firewall is blocking local discovery.
